Hi, I’m Dr. Renee Korczak Ph.D., RDN. I’m an advanced practice registered dietitian nutritionist with over 15 years of experience in the field of human nutrition, with a special focus on gut health. Through my years of practice as an RDN and research scientist, I’ve built a deep pocket of expertise in this area by examining how foods and beverages (and the nutrients they contain) impact the gut.
This is a fascinating area to study because your gut is home to trillions of microorganisms that each play a key role in performing essential functions in the human body. This includes synthesizing essential vitamins, facilitating the absorption of minerals, harvesting energy, communicating with our immune system, and connecting with our brain. WOW, the gut does a lot, and it is definitely complex.
Understanding these intricate connections is not an easy task, but I will do my best to help break down some of the latest science for you and offer my expert nutrition tips.
Why did I create Dr. Renee Korczak with a focus on a “Good Gut Family”? Great question! I created Dr. Renee Korczak Nutrition out of pure passion for gut health and family nutrition. As a mother of two girls, I can relate to the day-to-day challenges of feeding a family. It’s not easy understanding what foods are supportive of gut health — I know, I’ve lived it!
It’s also humbling to recognize that nutrient needs vary across the lifecycle and so do food preferences. So, if you’re feeling defeated in the kitchen and frustrated because the dinner plate is mostly full, it’s ok to take a step back and think about what gut-friendly foods your family successfully consumes.
If you notice on this website, I stress the importance of becoming a “Good Gut Family”. Whether you are a family of one or five it doesn’t matter, my goal is to educate you about the role of gut-friendly foods, beverages, and the nutrients they contain. I want you to feel confident about this topic so that you feel supported in the day-to-day choices that you make for your gut.
